why rosedown plantation is one of my Favorite Senior Session locations
When it comes to senior photography locations in Louisiana, Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site is easily one of the most popular choices.
One of the biggest reasons seniors choose Rosedown for their photos is its affordability. Compared to many other locations that charge expensive rental fees, Rosedown offers a stunning backdrop at a much more budget-friendly price.
The property features:
- beautiful oak trees
- manicured gardens
- historic Southern architecture
- floral-filled greenhouse
- open pathways and greenery
…and all of it photographs beautifully in almost every season.
As a Louisiana senior photographer, I love locations that offer a lot of variety without adding stress or excessive travel time during a session. Rosedown does exactly that. Only an hour drive for me, sessions at Rosedown also have a smaller travel fee.
This senior came to her session on her own, and she absolutely handled it like a pro. She carried her outfit changes, personal items, and everything she needed throughout the session. All while staying positive and relaxed in front of the camera.
But honestly? Watching her juggle everything taught me something important as a photographer.
Since this session, I always encourage seniors to bring at least one person with them. Whether it’s a parent, sibling, or best friend. Having someone there to carry outfit changes, hold water bottles, keep up with belongings, or simply hype you up makes the entire experience smoother and less stressful.
Senior sessions are supposed to feel fun and exciting, not overwhelming. Sometimes having that extra helping hand makes all the difference.
If you’re looking for a classic and affordable location for your Louisiana senior photos, Rosedown is definitely worth considering.
