A Full-circle Holiday Photo Session with the Christmas on the Bayou Queens.
This photo session was one of those moments that reminded me why I love being a photographer — because sometimes, photography brings you right back to where it all began.
In 2021, I had the honor of serving as the Teen Christmas on the Bayou Queen, and since then, this festival has held a special place in my heart. Over the years, I’ve stayed involved with the Christmas on the Bayou Festival, watching it grow and continuing to support something that once shaped such an important season of my life. Being asked to photograph the Christmas on the Bayou Queens during festival weekend felt incredibly full circle.
Holiday Festival Photography in Cottonport, Louisiana
We captured these holiday portraits throughout Cottonport, Louisiana, which was beautifully decorated for the season. Every corner of town reflected the magic of the holidays — twinkling lights, festive décor, and that unmistakable small-town Christmas charm. The queens were natural in front of the camera, and their confidence and joy made the session effortless to photograph.
Festival weekends are always busy, but this session felt like a calm, meaningful pause in the middle of the celebration. Documenting the queens during such an exciting time reminded me just how special this weekend truly is. I remember what it felt like to stand in their shoes — the excitement, the nerves, and the pride that comes with wearing that crown.
Capturing More Than Just Holiday Photos
Photographing this session wasn’t just about creating beautiful images — it was about telling a story. As someone who once held the same title, capturing these moments felt deeply personal. It was a reminder of how seasons change, dreams evolve, and how some places will always feel like home.
This session will always be one I’m grateful for — proof that sometimes the most meaningful work comes from the places that first believed in you.
